Nov. 7. White Tale Deer and snowy roads !

Three days ago we got our first snow in Alberta, Canada. Only a bit, but the ground is cold enough to let it stay white and not turn into a muddy mess. For now, the tall fall grass still sticks out of the thin layer of snow, later on with more snow, it will cover all the grass. These two White Tale Deer are regulars around the ranch, the mom is on the right, the little one from this spring is watching me. About the same spot, a coyote crosses the country road often too. Yesterday we saw him while driving home, he is lame on his right hind and was trotting on three legs only. I spotted these Deer this morning, when I went to open the water for our cattle, scooping out the chunks of ice. Soon we will move them to a pasture with a heated water tank. The first hay bales arrived and the boys have fun jumping from one to the next. We now feed our Longhorn hay every day and they still go into the forested part of the pasture and keep busy finding some extra grass.
