July 18. POW WOW !

This weekend the Historic Site at Rocky Mountain House was hosting a POW WOW; calling all drums. The weather was perfect, hot and sunny. Each day the pow wow started with an opening round dance with all dancers and flags. The leading flags were: Canada Flag, USA, Union Jack, Rocky Mtn. House, Clearwater County, Alberta, Metis Nation.
What beautiful dresses there were. The traditional dancers in buckskin outfits with lots of bead work. The young men with hundreds of feathers, the young women's jingle dresses and the kids were so cute too. After the opening dance the competitions started with each category performing.
There were four drum circles, each one had its turn for a song.
