At nearby Crimson Lake, the bench overlooks the snow covered frozen lake. There is too much snow on the ice to skate, but it is used for cross country skiing. Twin Lakes, also part of "Crimson Lake Provincial Park" has rainbow trout and fishing goes on not only in summer, but also in winter. Some fishermen drive their pick up truck right on the ice for their heavy auger to drill the perfect hole.
At Sylvan Lake and Cow lake people enjoy the wide open space with their skidoo, there is always enough snow on our Alberta lake's, especially this year. For skating, one has to clear the ice with a snow shovel to either create paths or a square hockey rink. It is fun to skate outdoors and have a campfire with hot chocolate and hot dogs.
