Feb. 5. What a nice winter day !

What a nice winter day it was yesterday. Sunny and + 5 C, the horses were just soaking up the warmth. No wonder after the different temperatures we had so far in February. Feb. 1. was so cold, - 28 C in the morning ! Then some milder days with sun and today not too cold, but windy with some snow. In the picture is Winddancer dozing. They all came to the corral near the ranch house for water and to lick the mineral block. Later they trotted out to the far pasture again to paw for nutritious grass under the layer of snow. The Longhorns were hiding in the forest on that cold day and only came out for their hay, usually they like to rest out on the hill, some resting standing up, some sleeping laying down. The bunnies, Buddy and Spots, were outside all day too, not today though, to much cold wind for them. Yesterday we saw a Moose from the kitchen window ! Very special to us, we don't see them very often, but we see their tracks in the spring snow while riding lots. The moose was trying to reach the lower branches of the trees to nibble on them.
