Feb. 20. View from the cabin's porch !

Although this weekend saw us in the deepfreeze temperatures, the clear blue sky and sparkling snow made the days just beautiful. The guest cabins are not in use until spring, but we still clear a trail we can walk on to check on them. Some of the snow is piling up high along the fence and covers up the bottom rail. The top layer of the snow is hard and crusty and it takes a big effort to walk somewere. Best is to use the trails the horses or Longhorns make on their pastures. They sure can trample down an area pretty fast. Yesterday we went on a little horseback ride into the forest, very pretty with all that snow. We saw a lot of deer tracks, a couple of moose tracks and some wild rabbit tracks. We were dressed in lots of layers, big heavy winter boots and tuques, all that kept us warm.
