Feb. 12. Adventure !
Hans-Marty riding home on Dakota ,Mescalero following them. The adventure started in the morning. The neighbour to the Northwest called, two horses were on her field. I drove the 5 km there and sure enough it was Dakota and Mescalero, well and save at the neibour's. Back at home Joe and I called in the herd of horses from the far West pasture. So nice, how they hear our calls and come running for their oats. But Sweetheart was still missing, we left the gates open for her. Some time later she came but from the South and not from the West. She must have gotten out of the pasture as well and couldn't find the opening back, so she followed the fence line all along the South through deep snow and dense forest until she found a way back home. They sure have a good home sense. In the late afternoon, when Marty was home, I drove him to the neighbour and he saddled up Dakota, rode on our trails trough forest and over our pasture back home. Now we moved the horses to another pasture, until we can go check the West fence. We have to wait for that until early spring, there is so much bush and hard going through the snow. In this picture the horses follow their hard packed trail, next to it they would sink in deep into the snow.
