Night , our three years old Paint gelding, having some fun catching up with the other horses. Actually we don't see our horses gallop and jump lots in wintertime, they seem to want to reserve their energy during those cold days. Sometimes they trot, mostly walk in a single line on their trail in the snow. Once the weather is warmer, our horses love to playfully run around, yet again, because they always are out on pasture, they get lots of exercise just grazing, walking from one spot to the next all day long. Night was born at the ranch, he looks exactly like his mom Dakota. We named him after a horse in a book we read. The book is called Ride the Wind, we got a copy sent to us by the author, she googled Ride the Wind and saw our ranch on the Internet. Her book is a true story novel about the Comanches; a young white girl grows up with a gentle Comanche family. Her name is Cynthia Parker, the first time she gets to know her Comanche tribe they ask her for her name and love it, since the same pronunciation for Cynthia means "stays-a-while" in their language. Her husband, Wanderer, has a black horse named Night.
